As long as I've been grooming there has not been a week that goes by with out me hearing someone tell me "My dog/cat has short hair. He/She dose not need to be groomed". This statement cannot be further from the truth.


Yes, your furry may have short hair or even possibly none at all. There still is no way to negate the fact that all dogs & cats need and must be groomed.

Its my opinion that it's perfectly fine not to have your furry in its traditional breed specific cut. When we take into consideration how each breed originated, we come to the understanding that 1) there are over 150 AKC registered dog breeds 2) some breeds date back as far as 4,000 years and 3) each breed was literally designed to perform certain tasks while being able to adapt to its sometimes harsh environment. Dogs were fully functional in their specific roles long before the development of modern society. In essence our society has "relieved" our furry friends of most of their duties.
